About

Clinical Pharmacy is the area of pharmacy concerned with the science and practice of rational medication use. It is a health science discipline where pharmacists provide patient care to optimize medication therapy and promote health, wellness, and disease prevention. The practice of clinical pharmacy embraces the philosophy of pharmaceutical care; it blends a caring orientation with specialized therapeutic knowledge, experience, and judgment for the purpose of ensuring optimal patient outcomes. As a discipline, clinical pharmacy also has an obligation to contribute to the generation of new knowledge that advances health and quality of life.

Kyung Hee University (abbreviated to KHU) is a private research university, founded in 1949, in South Korea with campuses in Seoul and Suwon.

As of 2020, approximately 33,000 students were enrolled in Kyung Hee University. The university has 24 undergraduate colleges, 17 graduate programs, and 49 auxiliary research institutions. The university offers a study abroad program in partnership with 434 sister universities in 69 countries.

Kyung Hee University has reputable biomedical major programs including pharmacy, medicine, korean medicine, dentistry, and nursing. Among pharmacy schooles in Korea, Kyung Hee University has always been one of the top 5 leading universities in Korea.

Our Clinical Pharmacy Lab aims to contribute to advancing patient care and optimizing drug therapy by training next-generation clinical pharmacists, clinician scientists, and leaders in the discipline of clinical pharmacy who can provide safe and effective pharmacotherapy to patients.

To achieve these goals, our laboratory is involved in the following activities:

  1. Clinical Practice: Daily patient care rounds with the critical care team at Kyung Hee University Hospitals
  2. Education: Pharmacotherapy didactic courses, Pharmacotherapy problem-based learning with real-world cases, Professional Pharmacy Practice Laboratory
  3. Research: Clinical and translational research focusing on individualized and optimal drug therapy for each patient considering the safety and effectiveness of medications as well as patient characteristics (Please refer to “Research” for more details).
